The average order fees at the relevant online brokers in German-speaking countries rose by 0.37 points compared with August. Currently at 69.47 points, the transaction cost index in September 2010 remains at an almost constant level and only just above the lows of August 2008 (69.02 points). Overall, the Transaction Cost Index<\/a> has now been stuck in a narrow corridor between 69.02 and 70.34 points since June 2008.<\/p>\n

The reason for the increase in the transaction cost index is the introduction of a new custody account with a commission scale at 1822direkt. For low order volumes of up to \u20ac2,500, the fixed commission is reduced to \u20ac9.90 - previously \u20ac12.50. For transactions with an order volume of more than \u20ac2,500, the commission - depending on the transaction volume - is reduced to Order fees<\/a> between 15.90 euros and a maximum of 54.90 euros. Thus, investors already have to pay 15.90 euros for a 3,000 euro order instead of 12.50 euros previously.<\/p>\n

We expect another change in the transaction cost index in November. As the Swedish online broker Nordnet sold the German business to OnVista Bank<\/a> and is expected to withdraw from the German market as of November 2, the transaction cost index is expected to rise again.<\/p>\n

About the Transaction Cost Index<\/strong><\/p>\n

The starting point is July 2000 with an index value of 100.
